The Bedford Researcher: Chapter Eleven

Chapter 11 is all about developing a thesis statement. First, the book says to review your position statement. Make sure that it reflects on the point that you want to get across. Second, review notes. Find the most important pieces of information that will help you get your side across to readers. Third, consider your role and purpose. Last, reflect on your readers.
To draft your thesis statement, you must find important information, ideas, and arguments associated with your position on the issue. Thesis statements will vary depending on the type of document so make sure yours is appropriate to the genre. Focus your thesis statement so that it isn't too broad
