In my English class we practiced cubing. Cubing is taking a topic and then writing about it from 6 different perspectives which are: describe, analyze, compare, apply, associate, and argue. Here are some examples from what I did-
Topic: Goats
Perspective: Apply
- Goats can be used in many different ways. They can be a part of a goat farm and be used for milk or meat. They are also great animals for petting zoos. Young children may see them a exotic creatures when in reality they are annoying and kind of gross. Goats are also good for doing your lawn. Just stake them to a leash or let them run free. This is especially good for when there are blackberries that you don't want to deal with. Be careful though, the goats may eat things that you don't want them to such as your favorite shirt, plastic bags, or grandmas 40 year old ficus. Goats can also be used to fill that empty nest feeling when your children leave for college. If you get a baby, they need to be bottle fed, taken on walks, and made sure that they are warm at night. This may make you feel better.
Topic: Finger Paint
Perspective: Associate
Finger paint is commonly used with young children for arts and crafts time. Animals, flowers, rainbows, and other things that make you think of a perfect world can be made with finger paint. Finger paint also makes me think of body painting, football games, and those strong warrior guys in the movies who you always see wipe paint or mud under their eyes.
